Fresh wines to beat the heat

Whether it is winter, spring or summer, there is no excuse for not enjoying a good wine. Fresh wines are a good choice for this time of the year when the temperature rises and the heat are noticeable, but what do we look at to determine whether a wine is fresh or not? It can be said that ‘freshness’ does not follow an exact pattern since we are talking about a sensation in the mouth, but even though it is subjective, when tasting this kind of wines we usually perceive a great lightness, freshness and a touch of acidity with herbaceous and/or floral aromas. They are usually young wines, with little body and tend to be served at lower temperatures, thus helping to mitigate the summer heat.

Keeping them cool in the heat of summer should not be a challenge if you follow certain guidelines such as those shown below:

Never fill the glass to the top, especially in summer. Leave it half full so that the wine does not heat up and can breathe… It is always better to pour more glasses than to fill the glass to the top.

Keep the bottle in a cool place, either in the fridge, an ice bucket or a cooler, once you want to drink it. When choosing the temperature at which to drink the wine, we should choose the lowest temperature indicated by the winery, to ensure that we drink it at the best possible temperature.

Do not cool the wine glass by putting ice inside it, as the heat of the environment and of the wine itself will cause it to melt and the wine will become watery, thus losing aromas and nuances.

Do not hold the glass by the stem of the glass, so as not to transfer the heat from your hands to the contents of the glass.

Fresh wines at Bodegas Luzón

At Bodegas Luzón we currently have 6 fresh wines, whites, rosés and reds, all of them different but with a common characteristic: the sensation of freshness in the mouth. All of them are perfect to combat the summer heat and to accompany good plans and good company.

Luzón Colección Rosado 2022

Luzón Colección are our youngest, freshest and most daring wines, because of their origin and because they show the beauty of our land and our particular climate.

Our Luzón Colección Rosé is a 100% Monastrell wine, with a salmon colour and expressive aromas reminiscent of red fruits and flowers. It is a balanced wine with a sweet and refreshing finish and flavours reminiscent of cherry candies and jams. We recommend pairing with seafood, light rice and pasta dishes, marinated white or red meats, baked fish, goat’s cheese, camembert or brie and fruit.

Luzón Colección Blanco 2022

Our white wine, 50% Macabeo and 50% Sauvignon Blanc, is a yellow wine with bright greenish reflections and a delicate aroma of green apple intermingled with citrus and tropical fruit. On the palate, the entry is unctuous with a balanced acidity and a lingering finish.

This wine goes perfectly with all kinds of seafood, grilled or fatty fish prepared with mild sauces, and also with poultry, vegetables in tempura or sautéed with ham and cheeses.

Luzón Colección Monastrell 2022

Our Luzón Colección Monastrell is a 100% organic Monastrell wine and presents aromas of red fruits such as cherries and plums with a surprising spicy finish. In the mouth it is juicy and fresh, presenting an enveloping body with a very pleasant sensation and a long and vibrant finish.

This wine is ideal with spicy game meats, roast lamb and pasta with intense sauces.

Tomás Ferro 2022

Our wine, 100% made from Merseguera grapes, has fresh notes of green apple, white fruit and grapefruit on the nose. On the palate it is unctuous with a salinity typical of the landscape where the vineyards grow, practically at sea level.

Tomás Ferro is perfect with fish, pasta, light meats and rice dishes.

Luzón Organic Blanco

Our 100% organically grown Macabeo wine has delicate aromas with citrus notes such as grapefruit, lemon and herbs. In the mouth it behaves like a fresh wine, where its acidity and long finish stand out.

Its ideal pairing is with oily fish, but also with some meats and less lean meat products, such as duck dishes, foie, ham, and even cheese dishes.

Luzón Dulce 2022

Luzón Dulce belongs to the most iconic wines of Bodegas Luzón and is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. It presents deeply aromatic and complex notes, with hints of honey and quince, vanilla, caramel and orange peel. On the palate it is expressive with notes typical of the variety, a great voluptuousness, pepper and orange blossom spices.

Luzón Dulce goes well with white meats and spicy dishes, seafood, cheese boards, vegetables and desserts.
