The new Altos de Luzón was born as a tribute to the special identity of Jumilla and its native grape, the Monastrell (Mourvedre), which finds its best version in our beloved land. The history of winemaking and the people of Jumilla is defined by that rough landscape, with a marked character, but full of singular beauty and richness, perfectly represented through our label, which narrates a landscape and defines the altitude of its own. La Venta del Puerto vineyards, located at 675 meters of altitude and where the grapes that make up Altos de Luzón 2018 come, in their entirety.
Altos de Luzón 2018 has been the result of a harsh Winter and a spring and Summer of mild temperatures. A temperate climate that helped to provide good fruit, with our vines full of leafiness and that guarantees an excellent vintage for 2018, as our Altos de Luzón 2018 testifies, an excellent benchmark of the indigenous grape of the DOP JUMILLA and of the one that we have made our flagship, the Monastrell.
For its part, Alma de Luzón is the wine that unites the emotions with the senses. It is a unique assemblage of Monastrell and Syrah. From the velvety touch of part of its label, to the view by the vividness of its color, the smell with notes of red and black fruits, spicy and soft smoked from the aging and of course, the taste with its balanced freshness.
Unlike in the Altos de Luzón vintage, 2017 brought to Jumilla an also atypical winter, full of cold and humidity, but a very hot spring and summer followed, with high temperature contrasts, which led to the generation of little harvest, but very tasty and concentrated grapes.
Two vintages full of uncertainty but which brought unbeatable fruit to make two wines with a very good cut and balance, the result of the work of a whole team that has managed to make two wines that will undoubtedly make people talk.
