But these innovative pairings have hours of study and even chemical analysis behind them. These analyses look for similar molecules in wines and foods that make a dish and a wine, which a priori we would think do not “go together”, can be delicious once combined.
As we know that many of you have neither the time nor the inclination to do this kind of research, we are going to give you the job done with several pairing proposals for our wines from the ‘Luzón Colección’ of Bodegas Luzón.
Luzón Colección Blanco
Our coupage 50% ‘Macabeo’ and 50% ‘Sauvignon Blanc’, is a fresh wine of balanced acidity that will be great to clean our palate and counteract the unctuous sensation left in the mouth by fatty foods. Therefore, the most suitable pairings for ‘Luzón Colección Blanco’ will be fatty fish, but also some fattier meats and meat products, such as, foie gras, ham, and even cheese dishes.
Luzón Colección Rosado
‘Luzón Colección Rosado’ is a 100% Monastrell rosé, refreshing and subtle. Therefore, the perfect pairings for this rosé will be delicate and creamy dishes, such as risottos, pasta, soft poultry stews, or very lactic and slightly cured cheeses.
Luzón Colección Monastrell
As its name suggests, ‘Luzón Colección Monastrell’ is a 100% Monastrell single varietal. Elegant and spicy, this young wine is ideal to accompany stronger dishes such as game dishes, lamb stews or dishes in which the use of spices stands out. Do you dare to pair a Thai dish with our ‘Luzón Colección Monastrell’?
Luzón Colección Roble
Let’s continue with our young Monastrell, aged for three months in French and American oak barrels, which gives it toasted and coffee notes. Reading this, it will surely come to your mind that the most suitable pairing for ‘Luzón Colección Roble’ is meat stews or grilled white or red meats. You are not wrong, but we suggest going a step further and accompanying grilled vegetables, short and medium-length cheeses or rice dishes and cold meats.
Luzón Colección Garnacha Tintorera
With our ‘Luzón Colección Garnacha Tintorera’, we go for a single varietal wine with 8 months of oak aging. To pair this intense and expressive wine, we will pair it with dishes of powerful flavors such as big game, red meats, stews and roasts and all kinds of Iberian charcuterie and cured cheeses.
Luzón Colección Crianza
This coupage of 70% ‘Monastrell’ and 30% ‘Garnacha Tintorera’ was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, resulting in an elegant, complex and well-structured wine. Its time in barrel makes the ‘Luzón Colección Crianza’ perfect for heavier dishes, returning to stews and roasts of red meats and game, as well as Iberian charcuterie and cured cheeses, although we suggest you continue with the wine if your dessert is made with chocolate.
What is the ideal pairing?
After all these proposals, we are sure that we have given you some ideas, although in the end, we have to tell you that the best pairing for our ‘Colección’ range is the one you like the most.
