In an unprecedented fact, our Luzón Colección Monastrell 2020 has been awarded the Honor Mention and Gold Medal at the 27th Quality Contest of Jumilla Wines for the third consecutive year, held last week with the aim of highlighting the wines of our D.O.P and, of course, the predominant role of our star variety, the Monastrell.

We have also received the gold medal for Luzón Colección Crianza 2018, as well as the silver medal for Finca Luzón Blanco 2020, an accolade that demonstrates, once again, the enormous quality of our wines and in this particular case, of the Colección range.

About the contest

The D.O.P Jumilla Wine Quality Contest celebrates its 27th edition in 2021, making it one of the oldest in Spain, recognized since its inception by the Ministry of Agriculture with the aim of highlighting the quality wines that are bottled in the D.O.P Jumilla.

Over two days, more than 150 samples submitted are examined by a panel of 16 expert tasters in a blind tasting. This fact gives the Contest its own identity, since the judgment of the tasting panel is an accurate reflection of market demands in terms of quality.

The main objective of this contest is to highlight the elaborations of the D.O.P Jumilla and to add the protagonism of the “true queen” of this territory, the Monastrell variety.

Our awarded wines

After the jury’s verdict, the quality of our wines has been confirmed once again this year, rewarding all the work done in the constant search for excellence and the best representation of the Monastrell grape of the D.O.P.

It is an unprecedented fact that for the third consecutive year, Luzón Colección Monastrell 2020 has been consecrated as the best Monastrell wine from Jumilla in its category, once again winning the Honorable Mention and the Gold Medal for the best young wine without contact with wood. A young red wine 100% Monastrell that seeks to transmit in its essence all the stamp of the Jumilla lands and its variety.

Continuing with the Vintage category, our Luzón Colección Crianza 2018 won a gold medal. A blend made up of Monastrell and Garnacha Tintorera aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels. The combination of two native varieties that results in a complex and balanced wine.

In the white wine category, Finca Luzón Blanco 2020 was awarded the silver medal. A wine made from Macabeo and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, one of our most promising references among the young wines of our winery.

Three great joys and three great reasons to keep improving day by day and continue to strive for what is always our main goal: to create the best wine for you. To create the best wine for you, thank you!
