Once again, a new vintage of 5000 bottles of ‘Tomás Ferro’ has just seen the light of day as a result of the collaboration between Bodegas Luzón and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT). A special wine, made with a variety native to Cartagena, the merseguera.
The entire production of this grape comes from the plot located in the Finca ‘Tomás Ferro’, a 1 ha. estate with a sandy soil, located in front of the Mar Menor, which has produced grapes that, according to our winemaker, Vicente Micó, this year have a very good quality, with a character and complexity superior to previous seasons, due to a very mild autumn and winter and a very warm and dry spring and summer, with very high and extreme temperatures.
As for sales forecast, we expect it to be similar to last year’s, in which “we sold out of stock a few months ago and had a very good reception among consumers in Cartagena, so this year we have a new distributor, Discecar, to strengthen local marketing,” as Francisco Martínez, our manager, points out.
The result is a young and honest wine, straw yellow in color, clear and bright, with a medium-high intensity and citrus notes on the nose along with white flowers and a tropical background. On the palate, a fatty and balanced palate and citrus and saline hints make this wine a perfect accompaniment to all kinds of appetizers, white meats, pastas and rice dishes.
Have you already tasted the new vintage? Don’t get lost, because it will be sold out in a few months.
