The history of “Por Tí“, whose previous name was “Por Tú” until 2015, begins with its first vintage in 2007. The origin of the wine was charged with emotion from the beginning. Looking to bring out a new reference for our winery, one of our colleagues brought us the inspiration for the creation of the wine: the birth of his first daughter. From there, we wanted a label to represent that emotion. The emotion of a new loved one that changes us profoundly. Time made that emotion, so personal, become contagious and transferred to a feeling of emotion for our loved ones, our children, our family. What we never dreamed of… What deep down, we often believe we do not deserve.
The name “Por Tú” came from the birthplace of that first daughter, which was no other place than Portugal, and thus closing the tribute by linking a geographical place with that emotion in a label whose design is organic, vital… Because that’s how it should be.
From the beginning the wine was projected as a blend between our most characteristic variety, the Monastrell, with another that would provide a contrast of softness, coupling the Cabernet Sauvignon from our plot of Castillo de Madax, one of the best plots of Cabernet Sauvignon in the area at almost 700 meters above sea level, which gives us grapes with a gently composition that marries perfectly with the strength of the Monastrell, in this case from the La Traviesa plot, a place located on the northern slopes of the Santa Ana mountain range, at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level.
The vinification process, unlike other wines such as Alma de Luzon or Altos de Luzon, which are fermented in stainless steel tanks, “Por Tí” is fermented in French oak vats where it ferments spontaneously.
When it is at its perfect point, the wine is transferred to French and American oak barrels, where it will spend 18 months of aging before bottling. This wine also allows for long cellaring and continues to evolve perfectly in the bottle.
And why the name change?
Although the wine was being marketed as “Por Tú” for 8 years, we suddenly found a brand opposition because of its resemblance to the Portuguese D.O. “Oporto”, which in Portuguese is precisely, “Porto”. This meant that we had to change the name and apply one that could be related to the original concept of a tribute to our people and that would provide the poem that we intend to create in the wine, and that is when we changed it to “Por Tí”, following that tribute, which even with the new name is even clearer. A wine dedicated to those who will come, to those who will succeed us, to our children and our family, a wine designed to share unique moments. An expressive and poetic wine both inside and out.
What do you think of the story, did you know it?, have you already taste it?
